o8 is open source and free forever with the model subscriptions and keys you already use. Local repositories and installed or bring-your-own model tools do not require an o8 account. Each installation also gets a limited hosted allowance on demand. Sign-in connects portable account services; Pro pays for managed infrastructure, higher limits, and supported customization.
The full app, the governance gate, the Engineering Brain, and the canvas are free when you run them with your own model subscriptions or keys. The source is MIT licensed, so you can inspect it, fork it, and add anything you want. Your worker runtimes use the access you already have. o8 chat also includes a limited install-scoped hosted allowance without sign-in.
Managed infrastructure costs money to run, so Pro pays for the hands-off path and our most generous daily limits. Every installation still gets a limited hosted model allowance without sign-in. As serving gets cheaper and the model improves, we’ll keep improving that free path too.

See live cohort pricing on the Pro page. Stripe checkout and receipts use the Founding Operator name for this first cohort.
The signed, notarized release runs on macOS 14 or later; the current build is Intel and runs on Apple Silicon via Rosetta. Windows 11 has public MSI and EXE previews with checksums and build attestations; publisher signing remains open. Linux has public AppImage, deb, and rpm previews; the AppImage is GPG-signed, while desktop verification and update delivery remain open. New to o8? Start with what o8 is or the docs.
